Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Counties Code. Provides that any county may opt out of any tax increase imposed under certain provisions of the Regional Transportation Authority Act, as amended by P.A. 95-708, that are to be used by the county as provided in that Act. Exempts taxes that are pledged to repay bonds or other long-term debt. Effective immediately.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Further amends the Counties Code. Provides that a county may not opt out of a tax increase if the tax proceeds are pledged through a formally adopted 3-year or more county highway improvement program or for public safety purposes.
