Synopsis As Introduced Orders that, in addition to the existing statutory obligations under the Abuse of Adults with Disabilities Intervention Act (AADIA), the Office of the Inspector General for the Department of Human Services (DHS OIG) shall (1) immediately report any death of an adult with disabilities who is the subject of a pending complaint investigation by the DHS OIG, (2) between 30 and 45 days after reporting, contact the law enforcement agency to which the death was reported to determine whether any further action was taken and, if no action was taken, notify the Attorney General, (3) follow up on all death referrals made by the DHS OIG to a law enforcement agency under the AADIA since 2003 and other deaths of an adult with disabilities who was the subject of a pending complaint investigation by the DHS OIG since 2003, (4) collaborate with provider agencies for intake, outreach, and investigatory resources and options for protective services for adults with disabilities in domestic settings, and (5) consult with and use as practicable the Department on Aging’s Protective Services for Seniors Unit as a model, and may initially utilize existing contracts with regional and local providers. Contains savings and severability clauses. Effective upon filing with the Secretary of State.
