2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Frank Ryskiewicz of Waukegan, who passed |
4 | | away on June 6, 2010; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Frank Ryskiewicz was born on May 4, 1926 in |
6 | | Chicago and grew up in North Chicago; he graduated from Holy |
7 | | Rosary grade school in 1940 and Waukegan Township High School |
8 | | in 1944; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, He was the recipient of a Victory Medal, a Good |
10 | | Conduct Medal, and an American Theater Ribbon during his |
11 | | service as an armed gunner in the United States Army Air Corps |
12 | | from January 1944 to June 1946; he studied Engineering at |
13 | | Millikin University for two years after the war; in 1948, he |
14 | | started his first business, Frank and Jerry's Service Station, |
15 | | with childhood friend, Jerry Berzin; in 1952, he went into the |
16 | | bowling business with Albert Browne at Park Bowling Lanes; in |
17 | | 1956, Frank and Albert joined Roy Bertrand in opening Bertrand |
18 | | Bowling Lanes, with George Lawrence joining the three in 1964; |
19 | | and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Sunset Bowl was built in 1966 and he owned it |
21 | | until 1990; he was a member of the Bowling Proprietors |
22 | | Association of America, the Illinois State Bowling |

1 | | Proprietors, and the Chicagoland Bowling Proprietors for 54 |
2 | | years; the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tournament |
3 | | was hosted at Bertrand Lanes from 1964 to 1985; he served as a |
4 | | Director of Northern States Financial Corporation, NorStates |
5 | | Bank (formerly Bank of Waukegan), from 1978 to 2006; he had |
6 | | been a member of the Glen Flora Country Club since 1974 and was |
7 | | a longtime member of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce, |
8 | | Waukegan City Club (President for one year), Waukegan Lions |
9 | | Club, Waukegan Elks Lodge #702, Waukegan Loyal Order of Moose |
10 | | Lodge #706, the Knights of Columbus, and the Polish Legion of |
11 | | American Veterans; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Frank Ryskiewicz was preceded in death by his |
13 | | father, Casimir (Charlie); his mother, Charlotte (Lottie) |
14 | | Ryskiewicz; and his sister, Alice Eiserman; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Frank Ryskiewicz is survived by his wife, Joan, of |
16 | | 52 years; his daughter, Janice (Werner) Reineke-Ryskiewicz; |
17 | | his daughter, Judith (Jode) Ryskiewicz; his grandchildren, |
18 | | Werner Francis and Cassandra Reineke; his brother, John |
19 | | Ryskiewicz; his sister-in-law, Loretta Carr; and several |
20 | | nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
22 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
23 | | his family and friends, the passing of Frank Ryskiewicz; and be |
