2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of John Allen of Chicago and Country Club |
4 | | Hills, who passed away on June 5, 2010; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on January 6 1935 to Earnest Allen and |
6 | | Mary Barnes in Magnolia, Mississippi; he was affectionately |
7 | | called "Johnnie Boy"; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, He accepted Christ at an early age and was |
9 | | baptized at the Rose Hill Baptist Church in Magnolia; he later |
10 | | joined Metropolitan Baptist Church in Chicago and Friendship |
11 | | Baptist Church; he later relocated to Country Club Hills and |
12 | | joined Great Hope Baptist Missionary Church under the |
13 | | leadership of Pastor Walter L. Cook; he served as Chairman of |
14 | | the Deacon Board, Chairman of the Sick Committee, and as an |
15 | | usher; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, He was educated in the Pike County, Mississippi |
17 | | school system; he received his Machinist certificate from |
18 | | Triton College in Chicago; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, He and Christine Cook were married in 1952 and |
20 | | were blessed with 7 children; and |
|

1 | | WHEREAS, He was a machine operator for 44 years at the Pyle |
2 | | National Company, retiring in 1977; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his |
4 | | sister, Martha; his grandchild, Quintin; and his |
5 | | great-grandchild, Donovan; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, John Allen is survived by his loving wife, |
7 | | Christine; his daughters, Carolyn (Leon) Melton, Jacqueline |
8 | | Ernestine, Cynthia (Michael Griffin), and Brenda; his sons, |
9 | | James and Andre; his 11 grandchildren; his 24 |
10 | | great-grandchildren; his 5 great-great-grandchildren; his |
11 | | sisters, Octavia Cook, Beatrice Richards, and Etta Ruth |
12 | | Delaney; his brothers-in-law, Pastor Walter, Albert, and |
13 | | Reverend Charles Cook; his sisters-in-law, Juanita Tucker and |
14 | | Annie Cook; his devoted nephews, Lessie and Clinton Richards; |
15 | | his family at South Suburban Hospital that cared for him; and a |
16 | | host of relatives and friends; therefore, be it
|
17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
19 | | his family and friends, the passing of John Allen; and be it |
20 | | further

21 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
22 | | presented to the family of John Allen as a symbol of our |
