SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of John J. "Jack" Thelen of Antioch, who
4 passed away on February 21, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born May 25, 1950, in Woodstock, the son of
6 Verner and Mary Ann "Bunny" (nee, Stoffel) Thelen; he had
7 resided in Pistakee Highlands and Spring Grove before settling
8 in Antioch; On January 20, 1973, he married Deborah Nesbit in
9 St. Louis, Missouri; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Peter Church of Antioch,
11 past board member and past president of the Antioch Chamber of
12 Commerce, member and Paul Harris Fellow of the Antioch Rotary
13 Club, and member of the Northern Illinois Ready Mix & Materials
14 Association, Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete, and Wisconsin
15 Ready Mix Concrete Associations, the Boy Scouts of America
16 Troop #92 of Antioch, the Northern Illinois Shooters
17 Association and the Big Foot Archers, and a board member of the
18 State Bank of the Lakes for 21 years; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Since 1963 he was a co-owner of Thelen Sand &
20 Gravel; and
 
21     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Vern

1 Thelen; and a brother-in-law, Ross Berry; and
 
2     WHEREAS, He was the husband for 37 years of Debbie; the
3 father of John R. (Tami), Jessica M. Thelen, and Jennifer
4 (Patrick) Barton; the son of Mary Ann "Bunny" Thelen; the
5 grandfather of Taylor Kae, Jacob T., and Kylie E. Thelen and
6 Grace K. Barton; the brother of Mary Beth (Bob) Varak, Sue
7 (Warren) Schumacher, Tom (Paige) Thelen, Pete (Terry Childers)
8 Thelen, Steve (Diana) Thelen, Ann (Mark) Kroupa, Barb (Mark)
9 Miller, and Peg (Tom) Miles; the grandson of his maternal
10 grandparents, the late Jacob E. (Matilda) Stoffel, and his
11 paternal grandparents, the late John J. (Agatha) Thelen; the
12 son-in-law of Robert C. (Dorothy J.) Nesbit; and the
13 brother-in-law of Cyndi Parazak, Karen (Dan) Spalding, and Kim
14 (Gary) Martin and their families; therefore, be it
 
15     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17 his family and friends, the passing of John J. "Jack" Thelen;
18 and be it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of John J. "Jack" Thelen as a symbol of
21 our sincere sympathy.
