SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Joyce Ann Pittman, who passed away on
4 February 3, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Joyce Pittman was born on December 8, 1935, in
6 Middletown, Ohio; her parents were the late Lawless and Lucille
7 Holloway; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Joyce Pittman was raised in Middletown, Ohio,
9 where she accepted Christ at an early age; she and her family
10 later moved to Maywood, where she attended and graduated from
11 Proviso East High School; she then met and married Clarence
12 Lewis; 3 children were born to their union; she later married
13 Harold Pittman; one child, Alicia Cora Pittman, was born to
14 their union; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Joyce Pittman was employed at Alberto Culver from
16 1965 to 1973; she was also employed at Marshall Fields, Saks
17 Fifth Avenue, and most recently at Lord and Taylor; during her
18 career, she was a top sales representative and received
19 numerous accolades for her work; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Joyce Pittman was an active member of the Canaan
21 A.M.E. Church in Maywood, serving in several of the church's

1 auxiliaries; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Joyce Pittman enjoyed being a grandmother,
3 traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family and
4 friends; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Joyce Pittman was preceded in death by her
6 sibling, Billy; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Joyce Pittman is survived by her loving husband of
8 40 years, Harold; her children, Alan Lewis, Steven Lewis
9 (Alexandra), Kenneth Lewis (Bridgette), and Alicia Pittman;
10 her stepchildren, Larry Pittman and Kimberly Pittman; her
11 grandchildren, Rena Lewis, Brandy Lucia Holloman, Evan Daniel
12 Lewis, and Soliel Marie Lewis; her sibling, Ronald Jones
13 (Lillie Mae); and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and
14 friends; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Joyce Pittman will be remembered by all who knew
16 and loved her as a fun-loving and gregarious woman whose love
17 for her family and friends was unmatched; therefore, be it
 
18     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
19 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
20 her family and friends, the passing of Joyce Ann Pittman; and
21 be it further

2 presented to the family of Joyce Pittman as an expression of
3 our sympathy.
