2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Edward Forrester Bloome of Harvel, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on July 22, 2009; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Edward Bloome was born on February 27, 1937 in | ||||||
6 | Harvel; he was the son of Everett and Nellie (Forrester) | ||||||
7 | Bloome; he married Bonnie Lee Skibitzki on May 14, 1960; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Edward Bloome graduated from Raymond High School | ||||||
9 | in 1955; he earned his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois | ||||||
10 | University and his master's degree in education from Southern | ||||||
11 | Illinois University in Edwardsville; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Edward Bloome served his country with pride and | ||||||
13 | distinction as a member of the United States Air Force; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, In 1972, Edward Bloome started his business, | ||||||
15 | Bloome Water in Harvel, which sold water softeners and later | ||||||
16 | expanded into the bottled water delivery service; he farmed for | ||||||
17 | several years in the Harvel area; he also had a long and | ||||||
18 | distinguished career in teaching in Divernon, where he taught | ||||||
19 | for five years, and at Springfield School District 186, where | ||||||
20 | he taught 2nd and 6th grades for 28 years until his retirement | ||||||
21 | in 1993; and

1 | WHEREAS, Edward Bloome served as a Republican Precinct | ||||||
2 | Committeeman for 20 years; he was a member of St. John's | ||||||
3 | Evangelical Lutheran Church in Springfield and the Masonic | ||||||
4 | Lodge #681 A.F. & A.M. in Morrisonville; he was an avid sports | ||||||
5 | fan and especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and | ||||||
6 | the Fighting Illini; he was a volunteer for the Prison | ||||||
7 | Ministries at Taylorville Correctional Center and was the | ||||||
8 | recipient of the Illinois Department of Corrections' Volunteer | ||||||
9 | of the Year Award; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Edward Bloome was preceded in death by his | ||||||
11 | parents; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Edward Bloome is survived by his loving wife, | ||||||
13 | Bonnie Lee; his sons, Rob (Pam) Bloome and Mark (Julie) Bloome; | ||||||
14 | his grandchildren, Kayla, Kristie, Kelli, Lane, Marlie, | ||||||
15 | Victoria, and Kyle Bloome; his brother, Joe (Phyllis) Bloome; | ||||||
16 | his sisters, Mary (Carrol) Hufendick and Helen McLaughlin; and | ||||||
17 | his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
20 | his family and friends, the passing of Edward Forrester Bloome; | ||||||
21 | and be it further
