SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Edward Chrapkowski of Gurnee, formerly of
4 North Chicago, who passed away on April 21, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Edward Chrapkowski was born July 16, 1927 in
6 Chicago; he was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War,
7 serving in the United States Army; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He retired as Chief of Police for the City of
9 North Chicago in 1993 after 30 years of service; prior to
10 joining North Chicago, he was a policeman for the City of
11 Waukegan for 6 years; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was a member of Queen of Peace Church and Holy
13 Rosary Church, where he had been an usher; he was also a member
14 of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Illinois Association of
15 Chiefs of Police, the Knights of Columbus Waukegan Lodge, the
16 North Chicago American Legion Sharvin Post #397, where he
17 served as post commander, a former member of the North Chicago
18 School Board, a graduate of the F.B.I. Academy in 1974, and a
19 member of the Waukegan Moose Lodge #706, the Polish National
20 Alliance, and Nick's Social Club; and
 
21     WHEREAS, He loved fishing, golf, stamp and coin collecting,

1 gambling, and bowling; and he was an avid Chicago Cubs and
2 Chicago Bears fan; and
 
3     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Edward Chrapkowski is survived by his son, John
5 (Donna) Chrapkowski; his daughters, Cindy (Marv) Dawson, Karen
6 (Craig) Bennett, Janet (Scott) Lynam, Lisa (Randy) Honeycutt,
7 and Beverlee (Ralph) Leyvas; his 15 grandchildren; and his six
8 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Edward Chrapkowski; and
12 be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Edward Chrapkowski as a symbol of
15 our sincere sympathy.
