SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Richard A. Foltynewicz of Ottawa, who
4 passed away on April 10, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Richard Foltynewicz was born on September 25, 1925
6 in Marseilles; his parents were Anton and Gertrude (Petzel)
7 Foltynewicz; he married Patricia Elaine McGinnis on January 9,
8 1946 at St. Joseph's Church in Marseilles; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Richard Foltynewicz proudly served his country in
10 the United States Marine Corps during World War II; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Richard Foltynewicz was the retired owner and
12 operator of Richard's Lawn and Garden Shop in Ottawa; he was
13 also retired from Libbey Owens Ford; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Richard Foltynewicz was a member of St. Columba
15 Church; he was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of
16 Foreign Wars, AMVETS, the Marine Corps League, Catholic War
17 Vets, Polish War Vets, and the Knights of Columbus; he was also
18 a member of various lawn and garden organizations and served
19 for 12 years on the La Salle County Board; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Richard Foltynewicz was an active participant in

1 politics; he was a leader in the "Pennies For Pearl" campaign
2 for the recognition of Pearl Harbor Day on the calendar; he was
3 successful in that effort and was present for the signing of
4 the declaration by President Bill Clinton; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Richard Foltynewicz was preceded in death by his
6 parents; his sisters, Irene Sharp and Clara and Delores
7 Foltynewicz; and his brothers, Frank, Eugene, and Edward
8 Foltynewicz; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Richard Foltynewicz is survived by his loving wife
10 of 63 years, Patricia Elaine Foltynewicz; his children, Richard
11 Allen (Carol) Foltynewicz, Barbara Ann (James) Straughan,
12 Daniel P. (Elyse) Foltynewicz, and Gary (Gail) Foltynewicz; his
13 sister, Catherine Kennell; his brother, Ronald (Josephine)
14 Foltynewicz; his sister-in-law, Betty Foltynewicz; and his
15 seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; therefore,
16 be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19 his family and friends, the passing of Richard A. Foltynewicz;
20 and be it further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 presented to the family of Richard Foltynewicz as an expression
