| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of
Fred Fishman, who passed away on February | ||||||
| 4 | 27, 2009; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Fred Fishman grew up in Chicago and Skokie, where | ||||||
| 6 | he was a grade school yo-yo champion and played league baseball | ||||||
| 7 | in grade school through college; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Fred Fishman attended medical school at the | ||||||
| 9 | University of New South Wales in Australia and came home to | ||||||
| 10 | Chicago to train in emergency medicine at Illinois Masonic | ||||||
| 11 | Hospital, where he met the love of his life, Maryanne; they | ||||||
| 12 | married in 1977 and moved to River Forest in 1979, where they | ||||||
| 13 | started their family; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Fred Fishman was a best friend to his daughters, | ||||||
| 15 | Lauren and Bryce, and would comment that the three of them all | ||||||
| 16 | grew up together; he loved and was proud of his son-in-law, | ||||||
| 17 | Brian; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Fred Fishman was known as the "Rock Doc", because | ||||||
| 19 | he was often called on to treat rock stars performing in | ||||||
| 20 | Chicago; for the past 15 years, he had a special connection | ||||||
| 21 | with his dog, Pads, and believed that she had evolved further | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | than the average dog; he had the ability find the fun in | ||||||
| 2 | anything, which made people gravitate to him; he was widely | ||||||
| 3 | known for singing "Mustang Sally", his signature song, at any | ||||||
| 4 | social event, and his friends would wait for the opportunity to | ||||||
| 5 | sing or dance back up; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Fred Fishman was a lifelong Cubs fan; he had the | ||||||
| 7 | honor of throwing out the first pitch at Wrigley Field in 2006; | ||||||
| 8 | he also loved to play golf, for the sport and the company, and | ||||||
| 9 | played regardless of the weather; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Fred Fishman was the adored husband of Maryanne | ||||||
| 11 | Fishman; the doting father of Lauren Sofia (Brian) Behan and | ||||||
| 12 | Bryce Anne Fishman; the cherished brother to Patti (Steven) | ||||||
| 13 | Helfand and Esther Fishman; the dear son of the late Louise and | ||||||
| 14 | Nathan Fishman; and the fond uncle and friend to everyone he | ||||||
| 15 | met; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 18 | his family and friends, the passing of Fred Fishman; and be it | ||||||
| 19 | further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the family of Fred Fishman as an expression of our | ||||||
| 22 | sympathy.
