SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Elder Felder Richard Sr., who passed away
4 on February 3, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Felder Richard Sr. was born January 8, 1919 to the
6 late Rich and Ollie (Simmons) Richard in Magnolia, Mississippi;
7 he grew up working on his father's land and attending the
8 family's church; and
 
9     WHEREAS, On December 31, 1940, he was united in Holy
10 Matrimony to Alma Halthon, in Magnolia, Mississippi; he was a
11 member of Mason Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Danville, Illinois and was
12 an ordained minister and church statesman; he also attended St.
13 Paul's Bible classes and was awarded a certificate for the
14 same; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army as a sergeant
16 during World War II in the Pacific Theater, earning several
17 citations and later was honorably discharged; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He retired from General Motors after 25 years of
19 service; he later built and was the founder of Richard's Temple
20 C.O.G.I.C.; he was a born-again believer and a member of the
21 Body of Christ for over 70 years; Elder Richard was a man of

1 great faith; he enjoyed reading the Bible, sharing the Word of
2 God, and receiving the promises of God; he also enjoyed
3 continuous prayer and communion with God, especially until a
4 "word" was heard from the Lord; and
 
5     WHEREAS, His hobbies included carpentry, remodeling, and
6 various creative workshop projects; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his
8 three sisters; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Felder Richard Sr. is survived by his loving wife,
10 Alma Richard; his three sons; Felder (Carolyn) Richard Jr.,
11 Kenneth (Pia) Richard and Simeon Gary Richard; his daughters:
12 Erma (Ken) Flye, Ernestine Tribbet, Sharon Kay Young, Alma
13 Richard, and Kathy Richard; his nineteen grandchildren; his
14 twenty-three great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
15     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17 his family and friends, the passing of Felder Richard Sr.; and
18 be it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of Felder Richard Sr. as a symbol of
21 our sincere sympathy.
