HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United
4States Army Sergeant Jesse Richard Tilton of Long Creek, who
5passed away on July 16, 2010; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton was born on December 14, 1986 in
7Decatur; he was the son of Julie A. Tilton; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton attended Mt. Zion High School
9and went on to graduate from Lincoln Challenge Academy in
10Rantoul; he later attended Richland Community College; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton served his country with pride
12and distinction as a medic with the United States Army, serving
13in the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th
14Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort
15Bragg, North Carolina; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton earned numerous awards and
17decorations for his service with the U.S. Army, including the
18Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, the
19Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the
20National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal
21with Campaign Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,

1the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO
2Medal, and the Combat Medic Badge; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton was a member of the Long Creek
4United Methodist Church; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton was preceded in death by his
6aunt, Barbara Warner; his uncle, Gerald Tilton; and his
7maternal grandparents, Theodore and Kathryn Tilton; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton is survived by his mother, Julie
9A. Tilton-Magana and her husband, Javier; his aunts and uncles,
10James Tilton and his wife, Judy, Linda Isaac and her husband,
11Robert "Bob", Richard Tilton and his wife, Judy, and Sandra
12Muirheid and her husband, George; and his many cousins; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Sgt. Jesse Tilton's patriotism and courage will be
14remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow soldiers,
15and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
19Sergeant Jesse Richard Tilton; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
