HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the employees and 
4
administration of Serenity House Counseling Services on the 
5
occasion of the organization's 25th anniversary; and
  
 
6
    WHEREAS, Serenity House was founded in 1985 as a 4-bed 
7
cottage that housed 4 men looking to live their lives free of 
8
addition; today, Serenity House has a state-of-the-art 
9
addictions treatment facility with a full-time staff that 
10
serves over 300 men and women in extended residential care, 
11
independent living, and outpatient programs every year; the 
12
organization also provides HIV counseling and testing to 
13
hundreds of men and women every year; and
  
 
14
    WHEREAS, Serenity House currently partners with over 50 
15
other social service agencies, including the United Way, 
16
throughout the State of Illinois to ensure that each and every 
17
individual receives the services he or she needs; and
  
 
18
    WHEREAS, Serenity House has been recognized on the local, 
19
state, and national levels as an example of excellence in 
20
responding to the complex needs of its clients and communities 
21
and helping thousands of individuals become productive members 
22
of society again; and

    WHEREAS, The employees and administration of Serenity 
2
House serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication 
3
for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
4
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6
congratulate the employees and administration of Serenity 
7
House Counseling Services on the occasion of the organization's 
8
25th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness 
9
in the future; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to David Tews, President/CEO of  Serenity House 
12
Counseling Services, as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
