HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Mike Kanzia, Chief 
4
of the Carol Stream Fire Protection District, on his 
5
retirement; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, He began his career with the Carol Stream Fire 
7
Protection District in October of 1976; he became Lieutenant in 
8
1984, Captain/Battalion Chief in 1993, Deputy Chief in March of 
9
2007, and was appointed to Chief in September of 2007 after 
10
serving as interim chief for 4 months; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, He started development training programs for all 
12
officers, started the Chaplaincy program,

hosted the first 
13
National Training Fire Program (Fire House Expo, Chicago 2008), 
14
brought the Chicago Fire Department to Carol Stream for the 
15
training of new recruits

Help design, had put into service a 
16
brand new command vehicle with the cooperation of the Village 
17
of Carol Stream, and was instrumental in the purchasing of a 
18
new tower ladder and rescue squad; and
 
19
    WHEREAS, He is married to Debbie

and they have four 
20
children, Michael, Daniel, Jason, and Nikki; his hobbies 
21
include remote controlled airplanes and watching football; and

    WHEREAS, His retirement is scheduled for September 30, 
2
2009; he plans to retire to Phoenix, Arizona; therefore, be it

 
3
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5
congratulate Mike Kanzia, Chief of the Carol Stream Fire 
6
Protection District, and wish him well in his future endeavors; 
7
and be it further

 
8
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9
presented to Mike Kanzia as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
