HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Willard Wigan on 
4
the occasion of the upcoming exhibition of his micro art works 
5
at the Nicole Gallery in Chicago; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Willard Wigan was born in Birmingham, England in 
7
1957 and began his artistic life at a tender age; suffering 
8
from dyslexia and learning difficulties, he struggled at 
9
school; seeking to find solace from his woes, he began creating 
10
art of such minute proportions that it virtually could not be 
11
seen with the naked eye; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Willard Wigan's talents have been recognized by 
13
the world leading Technology, Entertainment, Design Institute, 
14
where Mr. Wigan was invited as a guest speaker to the world 
15
conference in July of 2009; his works have been described my 
16
many as the "Eighth Wonder of the World"; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Willard Wigan's micro-sculptures are the 
18
centerpiece of an exhibition at the Nicole Gallery in Chicago; 
19
up to 20 pieces of Mr. Wigan's art will be shown at the 
20
exhibition from September 3 through October 2, 2009; and

    WHEREAS, Willard Wigan's incredible talents serve as an

inspirational story of triumphing over adversity; Mr. Wigan 
2
serves as a role model to countless young artists throughout 
3
the world; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6
congratulate Willard Wigan on the occasion of the upcoming 
7
exhibition of his micro art works and wish continued success in 
8
his future endeavors; and be it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to Willard Wigan as a symbol of our esteem and 
11
respect.
