HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to honor Kevin Yusman of Aurora for 
4
his service as a Staff Judge Advocate for the United States 
5
Navy; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, He was born and raised in Chesterfield, Missouri; 
7
he attended Kansas University, where he received a Bachelors 
8
degree in Political Science; he attended Southern Methodist 
9
University, where he received his Juris Doctorate; after his 
10
second year in Law School, he joined the United States Navy 
11
Judge Advocate General Corps as a Lieutenant JG (Junior Grade); 
12
and

 
13
    WHEREAS, He married Amy Haas Yusman in 1995; together, they 
14
have 2 sons, Benjamin, 9 years old, and Alexander, 6  years old; 
15
and

 
16
    WHEREAS, His first duty station was in San Diego, 
17
California with the Navy Legal Service Office SW, where he 
18
provided comprehensive legal support (Defense, Claims, and 
19
Legal Assistance) to Navy commands and individual service 
20
members; his second duty station was in Naples, Italy, with the 
21
United States Naval Support Activity, Trial Service Office, 
22
where he provided trial services, international law, and

command legal services to Navy and Marine Corps activities 
2
located in Europe and the Mediterranean; and

 
3
    WHEREAS,  Kevin perfected his court room work during his 
4
time in Italy, handling courts-martials and working closely 
5
with the Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS); in 2004, 
6
after 7 years of active duty, he decided to pursue civilian law 
7
and moved his family to Aurora; and

 
8
    WHEREAS,  He joined the Navy Active Ready Reserves and is 
9
currently a Lieutenant Commander and the sole Staff Judge 
10
Advocate for the US Fleet Forces stationed at the  Great Lakes 
11
Naval Base; in August he will be mobilizing with the Criminal 
12
Investigative Task Force and will be stationed in Afghanistan; 
13
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
15
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
16
honor Kevin Yusman for his hard work and dedication while 
17
serving in the United States Navy; and be it further

 
18
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19
presented to Kevin Yusman as a symbol of our respect.
