| WHEREAS, During these final weeks of the Spring 2009 |
3 |
| Legislative Session, lawmakers will be forced to make hard |
4 |
| choices as State revenues continue to deteriorate and the |
5 |
| Illinois budget outlook for Fiscal Year 2010 hemorrhages with |
6 |
| red ink; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood, the alleged not-for-profit |
8 |
| abortion business, in fiscal year 2007, brought in $1.0179 |
9 |
| billion in gross revenue and, according to the Planned |
10 |
| Parenthood Federation of America's Annual Report for |
11 |
| 2006-2007, of that nearly $1.02 billion, $336.7 million came |
12 |
| from government grants and contracts at both state and federal |
13 |
| levels; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, In the State of Illinois, taxpayers have provided |
15 |
| over $25 million in funding to Planned Parenthood over the past |
16 |
| five years for an average of $5 million per year; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Whatever one's views on abortion, the fact remains |
18 |
| that the government, while trying to regain a steady financial |
19 |
| foothold, should focus on providing financial assistance for |
20 |
| basic, vital healthcare needs to those who need it most and |
21 |
| that will affect the most citizens, not subsidizing a |
22 |
| controversial operation that has no problem raising money on |
