Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987 to allow a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches to delegate the use of a rigid and flexible endoscope to a speech-language pathologist that is licensed under the Illinois Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Practice Act. Amends the Illinois Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Practice Act to include the use of rigid and flexible endoscopes within the definition of "the practice of speech-language pathology". Effective immediately.

Sets forth the requirements that must be met in order for a speech-language pathologist to use a rigid or flexible endoscope. Effective immediately.

Sets forth the requirements that must be met in order for a speech-language pathologist to use a rigid or flexible laryngoscope. Defines "physician". Effective immediately

House Floor Amendment No. 3
Makes changes in a provision allowing for the use of a rigid or flexible laryngoscope for the purpose of training or research provided that certain conditions are met.

House Floor Amendment No. 4
In a provision concerning the requirements for the use of laryngoscopes, provides that nothing in the provision shall apply to the practice of speech-language pathologists in a hospital or hospital affiliate.
