| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Robert Dale "Bob" Crowder of Mattoon, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on December 8, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Dale Crowder was born in rural Coles County |
| 6 |
| on October 20, 1925, the son of Jesse and Carrie (Coleman) |
| 7 |
| Crowder; he married Martha Harrison on November 15, 1952; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Crowder served with the United States Air |
| 9 |
| Force during World War II and returned to Mattoon to work at |
| 10 |
| Brown Shoe Factory for 21 years; he then worked for Young |
| 11 |
| Radiator for 20 years followed by 13 years working for the City |
| 12 |
| of Mattoon; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, He served for a time on the Coles County Board and |
| 14 |
| on the Mattoon Township Board; for 20 years he served as the |
| 15 |
| Democratic County Chairman of the Coles County Democratic |
| 16 |
| Party, for which he had served as vice chairman the 10 years |
| 17 |
| prior; he had served as First Vice Chairman of the Illinois |
| 18 |
| Democratic County Chairman's Association and was a staunch |
| 19 |
| supporter of Democratic candidates; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Crowder was active in the Mattoon Masonic |
| 21 |
| Lodge 260, where he had served as past master, the Elect Lady |
|
|

| Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where he and Martha |
| 2 |
| were Worthy Patron and Worthy Matron, the East Central York |
| 3 |
| Rite Commandery, the Valley of Danville Scottish Rite, the |
| 4 |
| Royal Arch Chapter, Malta Commandery of Tuscola, the White |
| 5 |
| Shrine of Jerusalem, the Mattoon Moose Lodge, the American |
| 6 |
| Legion, Ansar Shriners, the VFW Post 2580, and a member of the |
| 7 |
| First Southern Baptist Church; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and two |
| 9 |
| siblings, James Crowder and Wanda Burrell; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Crowder is survived by his wife, Martha; |
| 11 |
| his four children, Nancy Crowder and husband, Marty Walker, the |
| 12 |
| Honorable Judge Barbara Crowder and husband, Lawrence Taliana, |
| 13 |
| Connie Crow and husband, Dean, and Jeffery Crowder; his sister, |
| 14 |
| Doris Bates,; his grandchildren, Heather Theriault and |
| 15 |
| husband, Darrin; Paul Taliana, Robert Taliana and his fiance, |
| 16 |
| Erica Vanecek, Benjamin Taliana, and Kayla (Crow) Wiles and |
| 17 |
| husband, Doug; he also leaves one great grandchild, Christina |
| 18 |
| Theriault; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |
| 20 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 21 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Robert Dale "Bob" |
| 22 |
| Crowder; and be it further
