| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of
Ruth Paink; and
|
4 |
| WHEREAS, Ruth Paink was born on December 16, 1942 in |
5 |
| Chicago; her parents were James Rolland and Frances Douglas; |
6 |
| and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Ruth Paink accepted Christ at an early age and was |
8 |
| baptized at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church; she attended |
9 |
| Crane High School, where she was an academic scholar and |
10 |
| violinist in the school orchestra; she then furthered her |
11 |
| education by taking courses at Chicago State University; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, In 1961, Ruth Paink gave birth to her daughter, |
13 |
| Dawn; a few years later, she met the love of her life, Frank |
14 |
| Paink Jr., who she married on August 29, 1964; from this union, |
15 |
| two children were born, Anthony and Steven; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Ruth Paink worked as an Executive Secretary for |
17 |
| the Cook County Hospital Governing Commission and as a Human |
18 |
| Resources Manager for Oak Forest Hospital; at the time of her |
19 |
| retirement in 2003, she was employed as a Human Rights |
20 |
| Investigator for the State of Illinois; in her spare time, she |
21 |
| was a tax preparer and an art consultant; and
|

| WHEREAS, Ruth Paink was a member of the Trinity United |
2 |
| Church of Christ; she was a board member of the RAY (Reclaim A |
3 |
| Youth) Organization; she was a charter member of MJM Speakers |
4 |
| Circle Club #6799, where she served Toastmasters as President, |
5 |
| Vice President-Education, Public Relations, and Membership; as |
6 |
| a member of Toastmasters, she earned the designation of |
7 |
| "Advanced Toastmaster Bronze"; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Ruth Paink loved art and had a flair for interior |
9 |
| design; she enjoyed bowling, dancing, reading, traveling, |
10 |
| shopping, and movies; she was also an avid sports fan, focusing |
11 |
| on the NBA Draft, particularly with the Bulls, Lakers, and |
12 |
| Heat; and |
13 |
| WHEREAS, Ruth Paink is survived by her husband of 43 years, |
14 |
| Frank; her daughter, Dawn Rolland; her sons, Anthony (Andrea) |
15 |
| Paink and Steven (Raquel) Paink; her grandchildren, Marcus, |
16 |
| Makayla, Marquel, and Chase; her brothers, Jesse Anderson and |
17 |
| Robert Anderson; and her many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, |
18 |
| nephews, and friends; and |
19 |
| WHEREAS, Ruth Paink will be remembered by all who knew and |
20 |
| loved her as a loving wife, mother, aunt, cousin, friend, and |
21 |
| neighbor who had a beautiful smile and a zest for living life |
22 |
| and helping others; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |

| her family and friends, the passing of Ruth Paink; and be it |
4 |
| further
|
5 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
6 |
| presented to the family of Ruth Paink as an expression of our |
7 |
| sympathy.
