SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of John R. Murr of Naperville, who passed
4 away on June 2, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, John R. Murr was born on September 30, 1917 in
6 Chicago; he attended Naperville High School; and
 
7     WHEREAS, John R. Murr served his country with bravery and
8 distinction as a member of the United States Army during World
9 War II under General Patton; he served as a machine gunner and
10 landed on Normandy Beach; he was awarded four Bronze Stars in
11 recognition of his service; and
 
12     WHEREAS, John R. Murr was employed as a truck driver for
13 E.L. Ramms Building Materials for 18 years; he also worked for
14 the Lincoln Junior High School in Naperville District 203 for
15 14 years until his retirement; and
 
16     WHEREAS, John R. Murr was a 58 year member of the
17 Naperville Moose Lodge #1290 and also a member of the Tiger
18 Club of Aurora; he attended Community United Methodist Church
19 and was a lifelong Naperville Resident, where he enjoyed being
20 with his family; and

1     WHEREAS, John R. Murr was preceded in death by his parents,
2 John and Elsie Murr; his sisters, Fern Mitchell, Mae Landorf,
3 and Erna Murr; his brother, William Murr; and his grandsons,
4 John and Daniel Ellis; and
 
5     WHEREAS, John R. Murr is survived by his wife of 60 years,
6 Audrey; his daughters, Nancy Tracey, Joanne Ellis, Jerri Lynn
7 (Greg) Morar, and Judy (Don) Neyra; his sons, John (Cathy)
8 Murr, Robert (Ellen) Murr, and Tom Murr; his eight
9 granddaughters and eight grandsons; his ten
10 great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Marie Murr; and
 
11     WHEREAS, John R. Murr will be fondly remembered at his
12 favorite family gatherings as a loving husband, father,
13 grandfather, and great-grandfather; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16 his family and friends, the passing of John R. Murr; and be it
17 further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of John R. Murr as an expression of our
20 sympathy.
