| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |

| learn of the death of
Erika Prince, who passed away on June 1, |
4 |
| 2008; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Erika Prince was born on June 28, 1975 in Chicago; |
6 |
| her parents were Curtis Prince and the late Diane Beck; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Erika Prince attended Arthur Dixon Elementary |
8 |
| School and Hyde Park Academy High School, where she graduated |
9 |
| with the Class of 1993; she then received her bachelor's degree |
10 |
| in Speech Pathology at Jackson State University in 1994, her |
11 |
| master's degree in Speech Language and Hearing Science from |
12 |
| Governors State University in 1997, and her second master's |
13 |
| degree in Special Education from Roosevelt University in 2006; |
14 |
| and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Erika Prince was employed as a Special Education |
16 |
| Teacher at Arthur Dixon Elementary School in Chicago; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Erika Prince attended the Salem Baptist Church of |
18 |
| Chicago, where she served as a member of the Young Adult Choir |
19 |
| and MIME, and worked as a Spiritual Intercessor; she was also a |
20 |
| member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Xi Nu Omega |
21 |
| Chapter in Chicago and the Order of the Eastern Star; and |
