SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Charles Raich Jr. of Roxana, who passed
4 away on May 31, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. was born on May 17, 1923 in St.
6 Louis, Missouri; his parents were Charles and Anna (Gromacha)
7 Raich; he married the former Margaret Ann Busch on May 23, 1959
8 in Branson, Missouri; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. served his country with pride
10 and distinction as a member of the United States Army during
11 the Korean Conflict; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. attended Roosevelt High School
13 in St. Louis; after earning his bachelor's degree from
14 Southwest Missouri State University, he went on to obtain his
15 master's degree from the University of Missouri; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. served as a teacher and coach at
17 Calhoun High School from 1958 to 1963; he then served as a
18 teacher and coach, and later assistant principal, at Roxana
19 High School from 1963 to 1997; after his retirement, he
20 continued volunteering with youth athletics; and

1     WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. was preceded in death by his
2 parents and his infant son, Charles Leo Raich; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Charles Raich Jr. is survived by his wife; his
4 daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Tom Elmore, Debbie and
5 Robert Brusewitz, Wendy and Scott Brown, and Katie and Mitch
6 Kemner; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Misty Raich; his
7 grandchildren, Marcie and Joe Hay, Zach, Hannah, and Seth
8 Brusewitz, Matthew and Christopher Brown, Sabastian and Terran
9 Raich, and Mitchell and James Kemner; his stepsister, Marie
10 Steinman; his brother, Steve Raich; and his nephews, Charlie
11 and Steve Raich; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 his family and friends, the passing of Charles Raich Jr.; and
15 be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Charles Raich Jr. as an expression
18 of our sympathy.
