SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of John P. Rygiel Jr. of Park City, formerly
4 of North Chicago, who passed away on May 12, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, John P. Rygiel Jr. was born on August 18, 1949 in
6 Waukegan; he graduated from Holy Rosary Grade School in North
7 Chicago, Carmel High School in Mundelein, and the Chicago
8 Barber College; and
 
9     WHEREAS, John P. Rygiel Jr. was a man of many talents as a
10 barber, painter, and musician; he was an accomplished accordion
11 player and was recognized and rated Superior during the
12 Illinois Music Association State Olympic Contest; and
 
13     WHEREAS, John P. Rygiel Jr. was a past member of the
14 Barber's Union and the Lake County Musician Union; he was a
15 member of the Tiny's Social Club and a volunteer for many years
16 at the North Chicago Veteran's Hospital; and
 
17     WHEREAS, John P. Rygiel Jr. was a devout sports fan,
18 especially of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs; and
 
19     WHEREAS, John P. Rygiel Jr. was preceded in death by his
20 grandparents, Paul and Anna Rygiel and Walter and Katherine

1 Kula; his uncles, Edward Wozniak, Edward Rygiel, Richard J.
2 Kula, and Edward Beres; his godmother, Tillie Beres; his
3 mother-in-law, Isabel Schapals; and his cousins, Richard C.
4 Kula and Jessica Przybylo; and
 
5     WHEREAS, John P. Rygiel Jr. is survived by his loving wife,
6 Karen; his daughter, Katherine; his son, John; his
7 step-children, Dan and Jayne Sheehan; his loving father and
8 mother, John and Betty; his loving siblings, Joseph, Bill
9 (Brenda), Mike (Carol), Mary Ellen August (Peter), and Tony
10 (Jean); his loving nieces and nephews, Joe, Brian, Kristy,
11 Bill, Jason, Patrick, Brittany, Mike (Rygiel), Amanda, Kate,
12 Rachel and Grace August, and Anthony, Andrew, Zachery, Matthew,
13 and Danny Rygiel; his father-in-law, Stanley Schapals; his
14 sister-in-law, Lynn Schapals; his many aunts, uncles, cousins,
15 and friends; and his faithful dog, Pookey; and
 
16     WHEREAS, John P. Rygiel Jr. will be remembered by all who
17 knew and loved him as a kind man who always put others before
18 himself and brought joy to many with his musical talent and his
19 many charitable works; therefore, be it
 
20     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
21 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
22 his family and friends, the passing of John P. Rygiel Jr.; and
23 be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of John P. Rygiel Jr. as an expression
3 of our sympathy.
