| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Ernest James Swopes of North Chicago, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on May 2, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on October 14, 1953 in Waukegan; he |
| 6 |
| was a graduate of North Chicago Community High School and |
| 7 |
| obtained his Certification as a Nurse's Aide from the College |
| 8 |
| of Lake County; he was also regarded as a chef; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester |
| 10 |
| Swopes, Sr. and Chessie B. Cole-Sweeps; and his two brothers, |
| 11 |
| Chester A. Swopes and Bruce A. Swopes; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Ernest Swopes is survived by three brothers, three |
| 13 |
| sisters, and his step-mother, Louise (Willie) Harris, Leotis D. |
| 14 |
| "Joe" (Polly) Swopes, Ed.D, Alice (Lydell) Swopes, Carl E. |
| 15 |
| Swopes, Diane (Mark) Washington, Aaron W. Swopes, and Mary L. |
| 16 |
| Swopes; and a host of nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 19 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Ernest James Swopes; and |
