SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Clarence "Clancy" A. Groblewski of North
4 Chicago, who passed away on February 27, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born March 11, 1925 and remained a
6 life-long resident of North Chicago; he proudly served in the
7 United States Army during World War II in the 170th Field
8 Artillery Battalion in the European theater; he was a true
9 patriot and remained red, white, and blue his entire life and
10 flew his American flag every chance he got; and
 
11     WHEREAS, After returning from his war-time duties in
12 February 1946, he became engaged to the love of his life Marie
13 (Stimac); they were married on May 3, 1947 and had three
14 terrific and loving children; they enjoyed 60 wonderful years
15 together and celebrated the occasion with another memorable
16 family vacation with their kids on an Alaskan cruise; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He was employed for 30 years by the United States
18 Naval Department, Naval Printing & Publications at Great Lakes,
19 first as a printer and then as a shop planner; he also worked
20 part-time in his family's business, Ratajack's on 14th Street
21 in North Chicago, as one of the establishment's most popular
22 bartenders; he was a die-hard Cubs, Bears, and Notre Dame fan;

2     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and
3 Madeline (Ratajack) Groblewski, and his brother, Mitchell; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Clancy Groblewski is survived by his wife, Marie;
5 his three children, Kathy (Jim) Guenther, Mickey, and Renee
6 (Doug) Zahery; his four grandchildren, Tammi Korblick, Andy
7 (Krista) Guenther; Chris Groblewski, and Kelley Guenther; his
8 two great-grandchildren, Cecilia Marie and Paige McKenzie; his
9 brother, Chester; and his numerous cousins, nieces, nephews,
10 and many friends; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13 his family and friends, the passing of Clarence "Clancy"
14 Groblewski; and be it further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the family of Clarence "Clancy" Groblewski as a
17 symbol of our sincere sympathy.
