| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of Robert Burke Hilsabeck of Hinsdale, who |
4 |
| passed away on March 29, 2008; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Burke Hilsabeck was born February 23, 1923 |
6 |
| in Oelwein, Iowa; his parents were Lawrence (Pat) Hilsabeck and |
7 |
| Helen Tousley Hilsabeck; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Robert Burke |
9 |
| Hilsabeck attended Iowa State University for one year from |
10 |
| 1941-42; he was then appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy and |
11 |
| graduated as ensign in June of 1945; he served in the U.S. Navy |
12 |
| aboard the USS Leyte, CV-32 until the fall of 1948; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Burke Hilsabeck studied history and earned |
14 |
| his master's degree from the University of Iowa in 1951; he |
15 |
| taught for five years in Tipton Consolidated Schools in Iowa |
16 |
| before moving to Hinsdale in the fall of 1956; he then taught |
17 |
| at Hinsdale Central High School until his retirement in 1985; |
18 |
| and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Burke Hilsabeck was a member and elder of |
20 |
| Community Presbyterian Church in Clarendon Hills; he was an |
21 |
| avid reader and inventive storyteller and enjoyed writing long, |
