| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of
Roy Williams of Alton, who passed away on |
4 |
| April 2, 2008; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Roy Williams was born on August 5, 1950 in Alton; |
6 |
| he was the son of Warren E. and Vivian R. (Wilson) Williams; on |
7 |
| March 20, 1999, he was united in holy matrimony to the former |
8 |
| Vicki Searles; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Roy Williams graduated from Alton Senior High |
10 |
| School in 1968; he was employed with Owens-Illinois Glass Works |
11 |
| for 10 years, Shell Oil Refinery, and Anderson Funeral Home; he |
12 |
| attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, where |
13 |
| he obtained his associate degree in funeral service and became |
14 |
| a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the State of |
15 |
| Illinois; in 1982, he became the owner and operator of Williams |
16 |
| Mortuary; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Roy Williams was serving as Worship Master of |
18 |
| Dunbar Lodge 97, Prince Hall Affiliation-State of Illinois and |
19 |
| was a 33-degree Mason; he was a member of Tyree Consistory 64, |
20 |
| where he was a Past Commander-in-Chief; he was a member of |
21 |
| Aahmes Temple 132 and was a Past Potentate of Prince Hall |
22 |
| Shriners; he was also a member of Union Baptist Church; and
|

| WHEREAS, Roy Williams is survived by his wife, Vicki; his |
2 |
| parents; his daughters and son-in-law, Tishelle Williams, |
3 |
| Vivian and Michael Weaver, and Christina Williams; his sons, |
4 |
| Leon Williams, James Searles, Roy Williams II, and Ryon |
5 |
| Williams; his brother and his wife, Warren E. and Carole |
6 |
| Williams; his sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara Williams, |
7 |
| Sylvia Williams, and Tamara and Curtis Windham; his special |
8 |
| son, Calvin Tolbert; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, |
9 |
| brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, friends, and |
10 |
| acquaintances; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Roy Williams will be remembered by all who knew |
12 |
| and loved him as a loving and caring man who loved people and |
13 |
| lived his life to the fullest; therefore, be it
|
14 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |
15 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
16 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Roy Williams; and be it |
17 |
| further
|
18 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 |
| presented to the family of Roy Williams as an expression of our |
20 |
| sympathy.
