2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Terri R. Jackson of Springfield, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 20, 2008; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Terri R. Jackson was born on April 7, 1957; her | ||||||
6 | parents were George and Ruth Jackson; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Terri R. Jackson was a graduate of Southeast High | ||||||
8 | School; she received her bachelor's degree from Sangamon State | ||||||
9 | University and was enrolled in the graduate program at the | ||||||
10 | University of Illinois at Springfield; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Terri R. Jackson was committed to her career with | ||||||
12 | the University of Illinois at Springfield, where she served as | ||||||
13 | Director of Multicultural Student Affairs; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Terri R. Jackson was a member of many civic | ||||||
15 | organizations; she was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta | ||||||
16 | Sorority, Inc., the Springfield Human Rights Commission, the | ||||||
17 | Springfield Urban League, the Springfield Chapter of NAACP, and | ||||||
18 | the Illinois Department of Public Health Division of Minority | ||||||
19 | Services; she was a founding member of Community Working | ||||||
20 | Together for a Cure and Women United; she was appointed by | ||||||
21 | Governor Rod Blagojevich to the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial |

1 | Commission; and | ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Terri R. Jackson was the favorite Delta Simga | ||||||
3 | Theta Sorority, Inc., Soror of Illinois State Senator Kimberly | ||||||
4 | A. Lightford; she acted as an older, more mature sister to | ||||||
5 | Senator Lightford; she was open, friendly, and a great | ||||||
6 | motivator, encouraging Senator Lightford to pursue her | ||||||
7 | master's degree in public administration at the University of | ||||||
8 | Illinois at Springfield and to pursue public office, from her | ||||||
9 | bid to be a Village Trustee in Maywood through her election as | ||||||
10 | State Senator; she would spend evenings with Senator Lightford | ||||||
11 | at the State Capitol while the Senator was carrying her son, | ||||||
12 | Isaiah; Terri R. Jackson was unbelievable in how she could and | ||||||
13 | would step up and provide follow through and direction to bring | ||||||
14 | about the completion of many community and statewide projects; | ||||||
15 | Senator Lightford will remember Ms. Jackson forever as a true | ||||||
16 | friend with a warm heart, a beautiful smile, and the passion to | ||||||
17 | inspire her and countless others; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Terri R. Jackson was a member of Monroe Street | ||||||
19 | Christian Church; and | ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Terri R. Jackson was preceded in death by her | ||||||
21 | sister, Michelle Y. Jackson, and her grandchild, Journee A. | ||||||
22 | Jackson; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Terri R. Jackson is survived by her parents; her | ||||||
2 | son, Damien Jackson; her brothers, George E. Jackson and Eugene | ||||||
3 | (wife, Tracy) Jackson; her sisters, Jennifer C. Jackson and | ||||||
4 | Vanessa J. Jackson; her nephew, Adrien Jackson; her niece, | ||||||
5 | Danielle Jackson; her grandchildren, Camden Jackson, Harmonee | ||||||
6 | Cunningham, and Ciara Jackson; her aunts, Ada Wolford, Florence | ||||||
7 | Davis, Maggie Moore, Della Reese, and Maryetta Jackson; her | ||||||
8 | uncles, Jim, Otis, George, and Tolies Crawford, William | ||||||
9 | Crawford, Carl Crawford, and Rahman Ali; and her many cousins | ||||||
10 | and friends; therefore, be it

11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | ||||||
12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
13 | her family and friends, the passing of Terri R. Jackson; and be | ||||||
14 | it further

15 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
16 | presented to the family of Terri R. Jackson as an expression of | ||||||
17 | our sympathy.
