| SENATE RESOLUTION
|
2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of James T. Costello of Granite City, who |
4 |
| passed away on January 25, 2008; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, James Costello was born January 14, 1925, in Grand |
6 |
| Island, Nebraska; as a child he attended St. Mary Cathedral |
7 |
| Church and School in Grand Island; he married Dorothy I. |
8 |
| (Leslie) Costello, whom he had know since she was five years |
9 |
| old, on September 12, 1945, in Grand Island; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, He was employed at Metro East Sanitary District |
11 |
| with 20 years of service as commissioner and had retired in |
12 |
| 1985 from American Car Foundry in St. Charles, Missouri; he had |
13 |
| also worked 20 years with the Granite City Housing Authority, |
14 |
| as a refinery superintendent with Union Starch and Refining in |
15 |
| Granite City, and a traffic manager with Kansas State Ordinance |
16 |
| Plant in Parsons, Kansas; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Costello was a United States Army veteran, |
18 |
| proudly serving his country during World War II in Normandy and |
19 |
| Germany; he was a 50-year member of St. Elizabeth Catholic |
20 |
| Church in Granite City, where he was active as a lector and |
21 |
| eucharistic minister and the Holy Name Society and Men in |
22 |
| Prayer; he was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus |

| Tri-City Assembly 0224, Granite City Elks Lodge 1063, the |
2 |
| American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and served many |
3 |
| years with the Granite City Library Board; he will be |
4 |
| remembered for the love of his family, the love of his church, |
5 |
| and all things Irish; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, |
7 |
| Lawrence P. and Rose Ann, nee Mulick, Costello; and two |
8 |
| brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and Marie Costello and Roy and |
9 |
| Josephine Costello; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of James Costello will be deeply felt |
11 |
| by his beloved wife, Dorothy; his two sons and one |
12 |
| daughter-in-law, Paul and Karen Costello and Joseph Matt |
13 |
| Costello; his daughter, Ruth Costello Cruse; his grandchildren |
14 |
| and their spouses, Trisha and Raymond Starks, Matt Costello, |
15 |
| Jonathan Costello, Jennifer and Darby Cruse Sanders, Dr. Rachel |
16 |
| and Kyle Hummel, Rebecca Cruse, and Sarah Cruse; his five |
17 |
| great-grandchildren; and his many nieces, nephews, and other |
18 |
| extended family and friends; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
21 |
| his family and friends, the passing of James T. Costello; and |
22 |
| be it further
