SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Gerald Fravle of Rosewood Heights, who
4 passed away on December 15, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Gerald Fravle was born on October 22, 1919 in
6 Gillespie; his parents were Andrew and Sadie Fravle; he married
7 Winnie McCrite on December 26, 1941; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Gerald Fravle served in the United States Army
9 from October 1941 to November 1945, and was stationed for
10 nearly three years in Iceland; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Gerald Fravle was the owner of Jerry's Brake and
12 Alignment Service in Rosewood Heights; he was an initial member
13 of the Rosewood Heights Fire Department, where he served as a
14 volunteer for more than 40 years; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Gerald Fravle was a lifetime member of VFW Post
16 2859 in Wood River; he was an active member in the Independent
17 Garage Owners Association and the Bethalto Knights of Columbus;
18 he was also one of the founding members of St. Kevin Church;
19 and
 
20     WHEREAS, Gerald Fravle loved traveling with his friends and

1 family, especially to Disney World; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Gerald Fravle was preceded in death by his
3 parents, Andrew and Sadie; his sisters, Helen Luken and
4 Marcella Leritz; and his brothers-in-law, Ralph Luken, Leonard
5 Leritz, Sam Verble, Hall McCrite, and Farrell McCrite; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Gerald Fravle is survived by his wife, Winnie; his
7 daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy (Dr. Mike) Fuesting, Debbie
8 (Jeff) Lister, and Patti (Tom) McRae; his grandchildren,
9 Patrick McRae, Meagan McRae, Ryan Lister, Lindsey Lister, and
10 Melissa Fuesting; his sister, Julia Greise; his brother,
11 Frances "Franny" Fravle; his sisters-in-law, Rosetta Verble
12 and Gustava "Toot" Lawrence; and his many nieces and nephews,
13 including Linda and Jim Begnel, Barb and Elmo Hinson, Ann and
14 George Gerl, and Robert Luken; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Gerald Fravle will be remembered by all who knew
16 and loved him as a loving, wonderful father, grandfather, and
17 friend, whose quick wit and ability to make people smile
18 endeared him to everyone he met; therefore, be it
 
19     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
20 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
21 his family and friends, the passing of Gerald Fravle; and be it
22 further

2 presented to the family of Gerald Fravle as an expression of
3 our sympathy.
