| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of
Charles Albert Comiskey II of Hinsdale, |
4 |
| who passed away on August 26, 2007; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Albert Comiskey II was raised in Hyde Park |
6 |
| on Chicago's South Side; he graduated from De La Salle High |
7 |
| School, where he played football and baseball; he then attended |
8 |
| the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, where he also played |
9 |
| football; after college, he enlisted in the United States Navy; |
10 |
| and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Albert Comiskey II joined the Chicago |
12 |
| White Sox organization after the death of his father in 1939; |
13 |
| he was appointed vice president in 1948, becoming a key figure |
14 |
| in the ascension of the Chicago White Sox, which rose to |
15 |
| greatness during the 1950s; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, In 1955, Charles Albert Comiskey II became |
17 |
| co-general manager of the Chicago White Sox; after the death of |
18 |
| his mother in 1956, a struggle for control of the team ensued, |
19 |
| with him losing majority ownership in 1958; he relinquished his |
20 |
| stake in the White Sox in 1962; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Albert Comiskey II was married for 57 |
|

| years to Donna Jo Curran Comiskey; the couple raised their |

| family in Hinsdale, where he became active in local real estate |
3 |
| after selling his interest in the White Sox; he developed an |
4 |
| office building and a subdivision in Hinsdale, along with |
5 |
| numerous other projects in Oak Brook and Tucson, Arizona; |
6 |
| during the early 1970s, he owned and operated Carriage |
7 |
| Transfer, a Hinsdale taxi and limousine company; and |
8 |
| WHEREAS, Even after relinquishing control of the |
9 |
| organization, Charles Albert Comiskey II remained a lifelong |
10 |
| Chicago White Sox fan and season-ticket holder and was ecstatic |
11 |
| about the White Sox winning the World Series in 2005; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Albert Comiskey II is survived by his |
13 |
| wife, Donna Jo; his children, Charles A. Comiskey III, Francis |
14 |
| "Beau" Comiskey, Colleen Comiskey Kelley, and Patti Comiskey |
15 |
| Slaga; and his grandchildren, Carolyn, Meghan, Sarah Hope, |
16 |
| Alison and Patrick Kelley, and Charlie IV and Mead Comiskey; |
17 |
| and |
18 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Albert Comiskey II will be remembered by |
19 |
| all who knew and loved him as a warm and gregarious man who |
20 |
| loved to tell stories to all he knew; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |
