SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of James V. McCabe of Creal Springs, who
4 passed away on August 18, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James V. McCabe was born on March 5, 1917, near
6 Stonefort; he was the second son of James M. and Mary E. (Van
7 Dyke) McCabe; he married Mary Bryant on February 18, 1948; and
 
8     WHEREAS, James V. McCabe spent his early years in the
9 trucking industry and road construction; he was inducted into
10 the U.S. Army on March 4, 1943 and served in the European
11 theater during the Second World War for 23 months in the 10th
12 Tank Battalion, serving in Normandy, Northern France,
13 Rhineland, Ardennes, and throughout central Europe; during his
14 stint, he was seriously injured in the Battle of the Bulge and
15 was awarded the Purple Heart; he also was awarded five Campaign
16 Stars, three Overseas Service Bars, and the Good Conduct Medal,
17 as well as having no time lost under AW 107; he was discharged
18 on Nov. 3, 1945 from Camp McCoy, Wisconsin; after serving his
19 country, he returned to road and bridge construction, where he
20 worked in Illinois and neighboring states; he continued his
21 career for 42 years, until his retirement; and
 
22     WHEREAS, James V. McCabe was preceded in death by his

1 parents; his brothers, T.F., John C. Vincent, and Clarence
2 McCabe; his nephew, Butch McCabe, his niece, Barbara McCabe;
3 and his sisters-in-law, Thelma McCabe and Loretta McCabe; and
 
4     WHEREAS, James V. McCabe is survived by his brother and
5 sister-in-law, Allan L. and Wanda McCabe; his sister, Daisie L.
6 McCabe; his sisters-in-law, Joan McCabe and Zelda McCabe; and
7 several nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 his family and friends, the passing of James V. McCabe; and be
11 it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of James V. McCabe as an expression of
14 our sympathy.
