SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Brandon Kitchens of Naperville, who
4 passed away on July 25, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Brandon Kitchens was born on August 20, 1983 in
6 Warner Robins, Georgia; his parents were Patrick and Barbara
7 Kitchens; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Brandon Kitchens graduated from Naperville North
9 High School in 2002; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Brandon Kitchens served four years in the United
11 States Air Force, where he briefed thousands of crews of airmen
12 in Germany on the hazards they would face in the skies over
13 Iraq; he had been lent by the Air Force to the Army, which
14 needed personnel trained in intelligence, and was deployed to
15 Iraq to investigate the risks on the ground and then brief
16 convoy drivers and others; he served three tours of duty in
17 Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan, where he traveled with
18 convoys, evaluated areas to build airstrips, and ducked for
19 cover during a bombing of the Green Zone in Baghdad; and
 
20     WHEREAS, After his return from Iraq, Brandon Kitchens
21 worked for Chicago 2016, an organization devoted to bringing

1 the 2016 Olympics to Chicago; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Brandon Kitchens was a fanatical lover of sports,
3 especially soccer; he loved the Chicago Fire soccer team so
4 much that he got a tattoo of the Fire logo on his leg at a time
5 it was unclear how long the team would last; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Brandon Kitchens is survived by his parents; his
7 brother, Chad Kitchens; his maternal grandmother, Margaret
8 Knighton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Brandon Kitchens will be remembered by all who
10 knew and loved him as a determined and intelligent man with a
11 wild side; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 his family and friends, the passing of Brandon Kitchens; and be
15 it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Brandon Kitchens and
17 his willingness to serve our country; and be it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of Brandon Kitchens as an expression of
20 our sympathy.
