SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Mildred Arends of Peoria, who passed away
4 on July 28, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mildred Arends was born on April 12, 1920 in
6 Peoria; she was the daughter of Chester and Elsie Bauer Arends;
7 and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mildred Arends worked as a teacher at Franklin
9 School, but was best known as the Peoria City Treasurer for 34
10 years; she also worked at Space Age Travel Agency and was
11 part-owner of Global Tours; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mildred Arends was a member of the Peoria
13 Historical Society, Peoria County Republican Women, Peoria
14 Symphony Guild, and Metropolitan Opera Guild; she was also
15 involved with Lakeview Museum and sat on the board of
16 Neighborhood House; and she was a member of Second Church of
17 Christ Scientist; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Mildred Arends was preceded in death by her
19 parents; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Mildred Arends is survived by her sister, Shirley

1 Schlink; her niece, Pam (Michael) Weaver; her great-nieces,
2 Jill (Michael) Reno, Melissa Weaver, and Amy (Will) Hedden; and
3 her great-great-nieces, Joclyn Reno, Macy Reno, and Evaline
4 Reno; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7 her family and friends, the passing of Mildred Arends; and be
8 it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Mildred Arends as an expression of
11 our sympathy.
