SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Ronald E. Ghidina of Peoria, who passed 
4
away on July 29, 2007; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Ronald E. Ghidina was born on February 16, 1937, 
6
in Pekin; his parents were Gene and Eileen Andersen Ghidina; he 
7
married Mary Ellen King on December 13, 1956, in Kahoka, 
8
Missouri; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Ronald E. Ghidina will be remembered for his 
10
golfing career, most notably his 1973 Illinois State Amateur 
11
Championship, seven Peoria Men's City golf championships, and 
12
two Peoria Senior Men's City golf championships; he was 
13
inducted into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame in 2000; 
14
and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Ronald E. Ghidina was actively involved with the 
16
Peoria Cursillo movement, TEC, and prison ministry for over 20 
17
years; and he was active in many other charity events; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, Ronald E. Ghidina was preceded in death by his 
19
parents and his sister-in-law, Joann Goelzer; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, Ronald E. Ghidina is survived by his wife, Mary

Ellen; his children, Mike (Nancy) Ghidina, Marcia Ghidina, and 
2
Doug Ghidina; his granddaughters, Sarah and Ellen Ghidina; his 
3
aunts, Alice (Ernie) Svendsen and Mardell Lenox; his 
4
brother-in-law, Dick Goelzer; his nephew, Tom Goelzer; and his 
5
niece, Kathryn Goelzer; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
7
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
8
his family and friends, the passing of Ronald E. Ghidina; and 
9
be it further

 
10
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to the family of Ronald E. Ghidina as an expression 
12
of our sympathy.
