| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of John Henry Moore IV of Chicago, who |
4 |
| passed away on June 3, 2007; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, John Henry Moore IV attended the University of |
6 |
| Chicago Laboratory School and St. Ignatius College Preparatory |
7 |
| School, where he played trumpet and French horn; he received |
8 |
| his Bachelor's of Science degree in chemical engineering from |
9 |
| the University of Notre Dame; he completed his graduate |
10 |
| education at the University of Chicago, receiving an Masters in |
11 |
| Business Administration; he later earned a Juris Doctor from |
12 |
| Columbia University in New York; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, John Henry Moore IV pledged the Sigma Omega |
14 |
| chapter of Omega Psi Phi ("Q"); he was a devoted member and a |
15 |
| true brother, like his father before him, to his fellow "Q" |
16 |
| brothers; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, John Henry Moore IV met and fell in love with Lisa |
18 |
| Ann Walker while in Omega Psi Phi; on June 5, 1993 they became |
19 |
| husband and wife, and this union would be blessed with two |
20 |
| children, Madison Leigh and John Walker Moore; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, John Henry Moore IV first was employed with Arthur |
|

| Andersen as a consultant; he practiced law with the firm of |
2 |
| Kirkland & Ellis for two years, and then began a career as an |
3 |
| entrepreneur; he opened concessions at O'Hare, Midway, and |
4 |
| LaGuardia Airports; he later opened Bunch of Books at the |
5 |
| Orlando, Florida airport; he returned to corporate life when he |
6 |
| later became a consultant with Capgemini U.S. L.L.C.; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, John Henry Moore IV was an expert cook who enjoyed |
8 |
| preparing and serving gourmet meals in his home; he is |
9 |
| remembered for the Thanksgiving turkey served in Florida, his |
10 |
| Mother's Day barbecue, and ribeye steaks on the Weber grill; he |
11 |
| also loved dining in fine restaurants, traveling, playing golf, |
12 |
| and enjoying the theatre; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, John Henry Moore IV began his spiritual life at |
14 |
| St. Thomas the Apostle church, where he received the sacraments |
15 |
| as a child; he had recently become of a member of St. Ambrose; |
16 |
| and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, He was active in the lives of his children, |
18 |
| helping to raise funds for their school, Francis Xavier Warde; |
19 |
| he sponsored a Link student as a way of helping the |
20 |
| organization that had helped him attend St. Ignatius as a young |
21 |
| man; he worked with the Goodman Theatre; and he worked with |
22 |
| various political events in the Chicago area; he is remembered |
23 |
| as a man who cared about others, helping and sharing where he |

| could, and enjoying life to its fullest; and |
2 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of John Henry Moore IV will be deeply |
3 |
| felt by those who knew and loved him, especially his wife, |
4 |
| Lisa; his children, Madison and John; his parents, John III and |
5 |
| Barbara; his sisters, Sharon Ruff and Alida Johnson; and his |
6 |
| many friends; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |
8 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
9 |
| his family and friends, the passing of John Henry Moore IV; and |
10 |
| be it further
|
11 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
12 |
| presented to the family of John Henry Moore IV as a symbol of |
13 |
| our sympathy.
