| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of Golden C. Barton of Mitchell, who passed |
4 |
| away on May 30, 2007; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Golden Barton was born July 13, 1927, in Alton, |
6 |
| Missouri; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Barton retired as a control specialist at |
8 |
| Granite City Steel after 39 1/2 years; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, He had attended Mitchell Presbyterian Church and |
10 |
| was a member of the Mitchell Kiwanis Club and AmVets Post 51; |
11 |
| he served as trustee of the Mitchell Fire Department for 17 |
12 |
| years and volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital (Gateway |
13 |
| Regional Medical Center) installing life lines; he was a United |
14 |
| States Army veteran; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and |
16 |
| Maude, nee Stogsdelle, Barton; his first wife, Doris, nee |
17 |
| McCarter, Barton; a brother, Boyd Barton; and a sister, Imogene |
18 |
| Harper; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Golden Barton will be deeply felt |
20 |
| by all those who knew and loved him, especially his wife, |
|

| Scott, Amber, and Brittany; his great-grandchildren, Hailey, |

| Christopher, Rosa, Gavin, Quenton, and Lydia; his sister, |

| Barbara Lambert; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be |

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
13 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Golden C. Barton; and be |
14 |
| it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
16 |
| presented to the family of Golden C. Barton as a symbol of our |
17 |
| sympathy.
