| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 |
| learn of the death of
Walter Gleason of Pekin, who passed away |
4 |
| on April 25, 2007; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Walter Gleason was born on August 1, 1925 in |
6 |
| Lincoln; his parents were Arthur L. and Lucille M. Watson |
7 |
| Gleason; he married Betty M. Garriott on March 20, 1948 in |
8 |
| Peoria; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Walter Gleason was a business agent and officer |
10 |
| for the Teamsters and Chauffeurs Local 627 in Peoria for 31 |
11 |
| years before retiring as its secretary/treasurer in October |
12 |
| 1987; he served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and |
13 |
| was a member of William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 in |
14 |
| Pekin; he was also a member of Teamsters and Chauffeurs Local |
15 |
| 627 and its Retiree Club; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Walter Gleason enjoyed fishing, golfing in the |
17 |
| Parkview Men's League, and reading; he was a member of the |
18 |
| First United Methodist Church; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Walter Gleason is survived by his wife; his sons, |
20 |
| Patrick A. (Mary Jo) Gleason and Keith E. (Terry) Gleason; his |
21 |
| grandchildren, Shawn (Niki) Gleason, Matthew (Erica) Gleason, |
