SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Mary M. Bard of Shawneetown, who passed
4 away on April 12, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mary Bard was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
6 Church in Shawneetown, and the Daughters of Isabella; she was
7 born in Sydney, Australia on November 18, 1923, to John Patrick
8 McCristal and Emily Muriel Kelly; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She became acquainted with Milent Russell "Ike"
10 Bard, an American soldier stationed in Sydney during World War
11 II, and they were married in Sydney, Australia on November 10,
12 1945; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Mary Bard left her family, friends, and her
14 homeland at the age of 22 and came to East Prairie, Missouri,
15 to start a family; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Mary Bard was preceded in death by her husband of
17 59 years, Milent R. "Ike" Bard; her brother, Frederick Thomas
18 McCristal; and her sisters, Muriel Agnes Boag, Kathleen
19 Edwards, and Hilda Marjorie Stratford; and
 
20     WHEREAS, She is survived by her loving family; her

1 daughters and three sons-in-law, Denise and Al White, Karen and
2 James Keasler, Diane Graves, and Cecilia and Mark Wilson; her
3 sons and two daughters-in-law, Bruce and Linda Bard, and
4 Richard and Pamela Bard; her grandchildren, LaDawn Febuary Avis
5 and Scott, Julie and David Graves, Brian White and Nicole,
6 Kris, Ryan and Brad Kilmer, Abigail and Kallie Keasler, Katie
7 and Drew Wilson and James and Michael McLachlan; her
8 great-granddaughters, Adrienne White and Madeline Avis; her
9 great-grandsons, Jack White and Michael Duke Avis; and her
10 sisters, Valma Mavis and Dorothy Grace Musgrave; therefore, be
11 it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 her family and friends, the passing of Mary M. Bard; and be it
15 further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Mary M. Bard as a symbol of our
18 sympathy.
