SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Alice Kreiman of Evanston, who passed
4 away on January 31, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Alice Kreiman was born on May 14, 1935 in Newark,
6 New Jersey; and
 
7     WHEREAS, She served on the boards of the Warren Cherry
8 Scholarship Fund, the Evanston Art Center, Housing Options for
9 the Mentally Ill, the McGaw YMCA, the Evanston School
10 Children's Clothing Association, and Invest; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Alice Kreiman served on the board of the Evanston
12 Art Center, where she chaired and ran the two-week long holiday
13 market for more than 17 years; and
 
14     WHEREAS, After being involved with the 1970 election for
15 the Evanston-Skokie District 65 School Board, an election that
16 concerned voluntary desegregation, Alice Kreiman decided to
17 run for office and successfully won election to the District 65
18 School Board, where she served as its president for three
19 years; after she left the school board, she continued to work
20 for education by supporting many future school board
21 candidates, advising them on issues and campaign strategy; and

1     WHEREAS, Ms. Kreiman was a founding board member of the
2 Warren Cherry Scholarship Fund, providing college scholarships
3 to students; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Alice Kreiman is survived by her husband, Jerry;
5 her son, David (Kate); her daughters, Deborah (Marvin) Talsky
6 and Lisa Gendel; her grandchildren, Jessie, Charlie, and Sydney
7 Kreiman, Naomi Talsky, and Taylor and Jordyn Gendel; therefore,
8 be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 her family and friends, the passing of Alice Kreiman; and be it
12 further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Alice Kreiman as a symbol of our
15 sympathy.
