SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of John Joseph "J.J." O'Doherty of Chicago,
4 who passed away on February 20, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born and raised in Rocky River, Ohio, a
6 suburb of Cleveland; he was a graduate of St. Edward High
7 School and a 1975 graduate of the University of Notre Dame; and
 
8     WHEREAS, John Joseph "J.J." O'Doherty and Mary Staren were
9 married in 1989 on a mountain in Aspen, Colorado; he had many
10 friends and was devoted to both his immediate and extended
11 families; and
 
12     WHEREAS, John Joseph "J.J." O'Doherty was one of the early
13 pioneers in the financial markets at the Board of Trade; he
14 began working in the Ginny Mae in 1975 and worked for the Board
15 for his entire career; he traded in various commodities and
16 financial pits and became a full member of the Board of Trade
17 in 1978; and
 
18     WHEREAS, John Joseph "J.J." O'Doherty had many hobbies,
19 including a love for cooking; he was a man who appreciated good
20 wine and food; he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt,
21 traveling around the world to pursue this passion; he loved

1 music, especially attending music events and concerts; he loved
2 Lake Geneva, and had a second home and weekend retreat next to
3 the lake where he could be part of the winter and summer water
4 sports; and he loved traveling to new places, experiencing new
5 and different activities; and
 
6     WHEREAS, John Joseph "J.J." O'Doherty was the beloved
7 husband of Mary O'Doherty (nee Staren); the loving father of
8 Jack, Taylor, Shea, and Morgan O'Doherty; the devoted son of
9 Maryvonne (nee Rose) and the late Bernard M. O'Doherty; the
10 dear brother of Mary Ann Kollar, Bernard (Kay), Brian (Anne),
11 and Pat (Mary) O'Doherty; he is also survived by many nieces
12 and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of John Joseph "J.J."
16 O'Doherty of Chicago; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of John Joseph "J.J." O'Doherty as a
19 symbol of our sympathy.
