| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Robert |
4 |
| T. Mortimer of Hinsdale, who passed away on December 16, 2006; |
5 |
| and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Mortimer was born on April 24, 1925 in |
7 |
| Chicago; his parents were Edward Mortimer and Ruth MacKay; he |
8 |
| married Mary Sherman on December 27, 1952; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Mortimer served in the United States Navy |
10 |
| in World War II as a Signalman 1st Class; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Mortimer worked for Merrill Lynch, and later |
12 |
| for Blunt Ellis & Simmons, opening their first Oak Brook office |
13 |
| in 1962; he retired as senior vice president of Kemper |
14 |
| Securities in 1994; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, He was a 1947 graduate of Dartmouth College; he |
16 |
| served as the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago president |
17 |
| and as a member and officer of the Dartmouth Alumni Council |
18 |
| from 1966 to 1970; in 1981 he received the Dartmouth Alumni |
19 |
| Award for his many contributions to the school; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, Robert Mortimer served as the president of the |
|
|

| Rotary Club of Oak Brook, where he was a Paul Harris fellow; he |
2 |
| served as the president of the Hinsdale Golf Club; he was a |
3 |
| trustee on the board of directors for the Robert Crown Center |
4 |
| for Health Education and served on the Citizen's Advisory Board |
5 |
| of Hinsdale Hospital and the Board of the Chicago Lighthouse |
6 |
| for the Blind; and Mr. Mortimer and his wife served as |
7 |
| co-chairmen of the Hinsdale-Oak Brook Crusade of Mercy; and |
8 |
| WHEREAS, Robert T. Mortimer is survived by his loving wife, |
9 |
| Mary; his sons, Robert Jr. (Marion), William, and Peter |
10 |
| (Christine); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Samuel, Michael, |
11 |
| Kristine, William, Emily, Melissa, Craig, and Brittany; and his |
12 |
| many nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
|
13 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |
14 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend our sympathy |
15 |
| to the friends and family of Robert T. Mortimer; and be it |
16 |
| further
|
17 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
18 |
| presented to the family of Robert T. Mortimer as an expression |
19 |
| of our sincere sympathy.
