SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express 
3
their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Robert 
4
Douglas of Granite City, who passed away on January 10, 2007; 
5
and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Robert Douglas was born on October 29, 1951 in 
7
Granite City; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Robert Douglas was a self-employed computer 
9
consultant; he was a certified EMT, a jack of all trades, and a 
10
former health inspector and trustee for the Village of Pontoon 
11
Beach; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Robert Douglas was a Democratic committeeman for 
13
Precinct 6, Chouteau Township, and very active in Madison 
14
County politics; he was a member of the Venice Social Club and 
15
AmVets Post 51; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, Robert Douglas was preceded in death by his 
17
mother, Rose Marie, nee Poneta, Douglas; his niece, Emily 
18
Douglas; and his maternal and paternal grandparents; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Robert Douglas is survived by his daughter, 
20
Stephanie M. Douglas; his former wife, Ellen Douglas; his

brothers, David L. (Veronica) Douglas; and Jack J. (Rose)

Douglas; his sister, Carol L. Hamilton; his special friends,

Starlet Travis and the Briggs family; and his nieces and

nephews, Joshua, Michael, Blaire, Caryn, and Evan; therefore, 
5
be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
7
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
8
his family and friends, the passing of Robert Douglas; and be 
9
it further

 
10
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to the family of Robert Douglas as a symbol of our 
12
sincere sympathy.
