AMENDMENT TO SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 26

    AMENDMENT NO. ___.  Amend Senate Joint Resolution 26 by 
3
replacing the entire text of the resolution with the following:

"SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
5
    WHEREAS, During the 94th General Assembly, the Joint Task 
6
Force on Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education Options 
7
(hereinafter referred to as the Joint Task Force) was created 
8
by House Joint Resolution 43 and was established to undertake a 
9
comprehensive and thorough review of education and services 
10
available to the deaf or heard of hearing children in Illinois; 
11
and

 
12
    WHEREAS, The Joint Task Force was to report its findings 
13
and recommendations to the General Assembly no later than 
14
January 1, 2007; and

    WHEREAS, As of the required reporting date, the Joint Task 
2
Force's work is still ongoing and further investigation is 
3
needed prior to the preparation and submission of its report; 
4
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
6
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 
7
CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Joint Task Force on Deaf and Hard 
8
of Hearing Education Options, organized pursuant to House Joint 
9
Resolution 43 of the 94th General Assembly, is hereby 
10
reconstituted; and be it further

 
11
    RESOLVED, That the Joint Task Force shall be comprised of 
12
those persons appointed pursuant to House Joint Resolution 43 
13
of the 94th General Assembly until such time as those 
14
appointing authorities established in House Joint Resolution 
15
43 appoint different persons to the Joint Task Force; and be it 
16
further

 
17
    RESOLVED, That the Joint Task Force shall have the 
18
authority, duties, and purposes as set forth in  House Joint 
19
Resolution 43 of the 94th General Assembly; and be it further
 
20
    RESOLVED, That no later than December 31, 2008, the Joint 
21
Task Force shall submit a report to the General Assembly of its 
22
findings and recommendations; and that the Joint Task Force

shall be dissolved after the filing of this report; and be it 
2
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
4
delivered to the Governor of the State of Illinois.".
