    Amends the Illinois Municipal Code.  Provides that any municipality may require that all firefighters hired by the municipality on or after the effective date of the amendatory Act meet certain licensure requirements.

    AN ACT concerning local government.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended  by adding 
5
Section 10-2.1-31 as follows:

    (65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-31  new)

    Sec. 10-2.1-31. Emergency medical technician licensure.  
8
The corporate authorities of any municipality may require that 
9
all firefighters hired by the municipality on or after the 
10
effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th General 
11
Assembly be licensed as an EMT-B, EMT-I, or EMT-P under the 
12
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act.
