Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that a qualified utility company representative as determined by police, fire, or emergency personnel may disconnect gas or electricity service provided by any utility when a hazardous event requires immediate action. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning regulation.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 8-511 as follows:
|

| Sec. 8-511. Emergency disconnection of gas or electricity. |

| A qualified utility company representative as determined by |
| 9 |
| police, fire, or emergency personnel may disconnect gas or |
| 10 |
| electricity service provided by any utility when a hazardous |
| 11 |
| event requires immediate action.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 13 |
| becoming law.
