Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Requires the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to develop appropriate disclosures to be provided to purchasers of identity theft insurance, including what the insured will receive if he or she is a victim of identity theft and how to protect himself or herself from identity theft.

| AN ACT concerning insurance.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding |
5 |
| Section 155.42 as follows: |

| (215 ILCS 5/155.42 new) |

| Sec. 155.42. Identity theft insurance disclosures. The |
8 |
| Department shall develop appropriate disclosures to be |
9 |
| provided by insurers to purchasers of identity theft insurance. |
10 |
| The disclosures shall include, at a minimum, information on |
11 |
| what an insured will receive if he or she is the victim of |
12 |
| identity theft and instructions on how to protect himself or |
13 |
| herself from identity theft.
