    Amends the Police Training Institute Act.  Provides that the training offered in the Police Training Institute shall be under the direction of the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (rather than the Division of University Extension Services of the University).  Effective immediately.

    AN ACT concerning education.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Police Training Institute Act is amended  by 
5
changing Section 1 as follows:

    (110 ILCS 370/1)  (from Ch. 144, par. 63a)

    Sec. 1. The trustees of the University of Illinois shall 
8
establish a school
to be called the Police Training Institute 
9
for the purpose of training
police officers in the State of 
10
Illinois in the methods of maintaining
police services at a 
11
level consistent with the needs of the community. The
training 
12
offered in the Police Training Institute shall be under the

13
direction of the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for 
14
Academic Affairs at
Division of University Extension Services 
15
of the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
