HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Representative Richard T.
4 Bradley of Chicago on his service to the people of his
5 representative district; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Representative Bradley has been a member of the
7 Illinois House of Representatives since 1997 and has served
8 this body with distinction; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Rich Bradley was born in 1955 in Chicago; he
10 graduated from Luther North High School and Concordia Teachers
11 College, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science; after
12 graduation from college in 1979, he began work as a Crisis
13 Intervention Social Worker for the City of Chicago, where he
14 counseled crime victims and substance abusers, in addition to
15 helping the elderly to obtain affordable housing; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Following a number of years as an office manager
17 and community relations liaison in Chicago's 35th Ward, Rich
18 Bradley began work as the Chief Operating Officer of the Art
19 Specialty Company; and
 
20     WHEREAS, In 1993, Rich Bradley returned to his work for the
21 City of Chicago as Deputy Director of the Mayor's Office of

1 Inquiry and Information, where he supervised 50 communications
2 staff persons and administered community outreach programs;
3 and
 
4     WHEREAS, Rich Bradley was elected in 1996 as 20th District
5 State Representative and re-elected through 2006 as the 40th
6 District State Representative; he has worked humbly and
7 honorably to meet the needs of working families and senior
8 citizens on Chicago's Northwest Side and to address serious
9 issues and challenges, including reducing crime and advocating
10 for the Hispanic community; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Representative Bradley has served as the Chairman
12 of the Committee on Personnel and Pensions and as Vice-Chairman
13 of the Executive Committee; he has also been a member of the
14 Environment and Energy, Insurance, Judiciary-Criminal Law,
15 State Government Administration, Election Reform, Consumer
16 Protection and Product Regulation, Registration and
17 Regulation, and Telecommunications committees; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Representative Bradley, a Mexican-American, is a
19 founding member of the Legislative Latino Caucus; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Representative Bradley has worked tirelessly to
21 improve the quality of life for local residents through service
22 on the boards of St. Viator's Grammar School, Madonna High

1 School, Alvernia High School, Belmont Community Hospital,
2 Independence Park, Irving Park Food Pantry, Neighbors United
3 Civic Organization, and with the Logan Square Lions Club and
4 Portage Park Chamber of Commerce; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Representative Bradley takes a community-based
6 approach to his job, attending block club and business club
7 meetings and listening more than he speaks to understand
8 constituents' concerns and what he can do to support them; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Representative Bradley's local involvement has
10 led to improvements of local parks, the initiation of new park
11 councils, crime reduction efforts with local CAPS programs, and
12 the implementation of before-school and after-school programs;
13 and
 
14     WHEREAS, It is Representative Bradley's belief that if
15 people are willing to engage and work together, there is no
16 issue that we can't solve to help work towards progress and
17 move the community forward; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Representative Bradley is looking forward to
19 spending more time with his wife, Cynthia, and their three
20 children, Meghan, Christine, and Julianne; therefore, be it
 
21     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2 wish Representative Richard T. Bradley all the best in his
3 future endeavors and congratulate him on his 12 years of
4 service to the people of the State of Illinois; and be it
5 further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Representative Richard T. Bradley as an expression
8 of our esteem and respect.
